Könsrock

Könsrock (Swedish for Genitalia rock) is a Swedish music genre.

Könsrock was created in late 1970s and has its origins in punk rock. An important earlier influence from the late '60s and early '70s was Johnny Bode, who released three records containing songs with explicit sexual lyrics. Johnny Bode's records did not have the punk rock influences of könsrock, and were sung in a more traditional way compared to the comical approach of könsrock, but are considered an important influence on the later könsrock. Eddie Meduza also is important in the history of könsrock, but should similarly not be considered a könsrocker due to not using a punk rock style and using a more traditional singing style. Similarly to Johnny Bode, Eddie Meduza was known for songs with offensive and often sexual lyrics.

In 1994 Tunnan och Moroten (The Barrel and The Carrot) began making music together. Early songs were released as Amiga modules, but since the late 1990s, they have incorporated guitar and drums. In the late 1990s, songs in MP3 format began circulating on the internet, and Bajs i bastun was released in 1998, becoming one of their most famous songs. There are now eight albums. On the later releases, synth, bass, electric guitar, and drums are used, together with influences from chip music.

Könsrock is commonly produced using the same line-up as punk rock, often including post-punk influences with drum machines, keyboards, and other electronic devices. Some bands use heavily distorted instrument similar to extreme punk, and some use a more experimental sound deliberately made to sound unpleasant. The lyrics are usually offensive and deal with topics such as paedophilia, obscenity, feces, drugs, violence and handicapped people. The provoking and childish songs have been popular at schools in Sweden and have on some occasion caused outrage.
