Haziqul Khairi (Urdu: حازق الخيری ) (born November 5, 1931) is a Pakistani jurist who served as the 11th Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan (2006-2009). Khairi has also served as Judge of the Sindh High Court, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, member of the Council of Islamic Ideology and Principal Sindh Muslim Law College(1981–88).
Khairi was born in Delhi on the 5th day of November 1931 in a literary family. Khairi is the son of late Mr. Raziq-ul-Khairi, Editor ISMAT and Begum Amna Nazli, short story writer and grandson of late Allama Rashid-ul-Khairi, an outstanding social reformer and reputed writer of Urdu Language. He is the father-in-law of prominent bureaucrat Rizwan Ahmed (Government official). He got early education at Anglo Arabic Senior Secondary School in Delhi and then later on in Karachi where he migrated with his family after independence of Pakistan. He graduated in Arts in 1954 and got Masters degree in Political Science and LL.B. in 1956 from Sindh Muslim Law College, University of Karachi.
Khairi practiced as Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan before his elevation as a Judge of the Sindh High Court in 1988. He is a short story and play writer and author of 'Guzarti Shaab', a collection of short stories published in 1961. His auto biography entitled 'JAAGTEY LAMHE' was published in 2012. He is a member of many governmental associations, including the National Judicial Policy Making Committee, the Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan, the Advisory Board of the Al-Mizan Foundation, and the Administration Committee of Al-Mizan Foundation. He is also on the Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, Council of Trustees and Selection Board of International Islamic University, Islamabad. Khairi is also on the the Board of Governors of Habib Univeristy. Khairi is also currently the chairman of Thinker's Forum of Hamdard Shura in Karachi . Previously he has remained a former Trustee Transparency International and chairman of Karachi Gymkhana's Project Committee.
