The book of pilgrimage or hajj (Persian:حج) is one of the works of Ali shariati. He try to describe the phenomena of hajj as a religious practice by a believer. In fact, the book considered as a long report on religious experience of Muslim believer.
The book has two eminent characters. The first one is that He try to interpret the religious practice of Hajj from a believer's perspective. In other word, he wanted to describe the pilgrimage as a religious experience. The other one is that He try to imagine that religious action literally and in harmonic phrases. He knows hajj as a Symbolic sign of Islam. Of course, He referred to the aim of the writing of the book in order to analyse the hajj from history of religion and differences between past and future faiths. Other scholar known the aim of book as to response to scientific doubts to islam. According to Ihsan Shariati, the son of Ali Shariati, the book of hajj nowadays has Iranian fans in order to study. The affection of the book is even out of frontier of Iran. Some turkeys people have a good knowledge on the Hajj book and even during the ceremony of pilgrimage they take it with themselves. In spite of passing many times, there are many educated people who want to know what is the reason of writing the Hajj and its content.
