Nuovi Cantieri Apuania S.p.a |

Nuovi Cantieri Apuania S.p.A is one of the most important Italian shipyard established in 1973 after the renovation of a shipyard founded on 1941. In December 2012 the shipyard has been acquired by Giovanni Costantino owner of Tecnomar.
The shipyard is located in Carrara and was founded by brothers Picchiotti in 1941 for the construction of small boats. This property has been sold to Gruppo Ligure that there remained until the postwar period. Then it became the property of the Aermacchi group until in 1973 the yard was in crisis, so almost a year of occupation by the workers, the state government intervened to rebuilt the site with the addition of a dry dock 200 mx 35 m an overhead crane capacity of up to 200 tons. These actions made him one of the most important and modern in Italy. In the 2000s, however, with the advent of the crisis even the shipyard was unable to go on, so it was bought by Tecnomar that deals with the construction of mega-yachts. The construction site after the purchase is subject to a complete redesign of the sheds (with the addition of a new one), the cranes and the central offices of the boulevard.
The City Council has asked to the Mayor of the Carrara city to verify the business plans related to the granting of the state property on which is located the shipyard, (on pain of revocation of the license), sending an emergency meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development, to discuss the possible renewal of the thirty-year concession expiring on 31 December 2016. The city council document came out in favor of the workers, who participated in mass during the board meeting, expressing great concern for both the discriminatory attitude against workers, and for 40 workers redundancies identified by the company. The document also reserves a negative judgment against the company led by Giovanni Costantino, who since 2012 has not yet provided the business plans provided for under agreements with the Ministry of Productive Activities, and has confined to the premises of the former canteen forty employees to the out of their work, despite the agreements they would provide for the maintenance of employment levels.
The mayor of Carrara has hinted that in case of non-compliance with the commitments made by Giovanni Constantino, the Port Committee (where the president is Francesco Messineo as well in the Port Authority), he could opt not so much on the reduction of the thirty-year concession, as on redefining the perimeter of the shipyard, going to reduce the space of NCA to allow the entry of other entrepreneurs.
Due to the non-payment of invoices of Ginca (coating supplier) by NCA, the Court of Massa ordered the seizure of the yacht "Tremenda", which was already in Porto Rotondo ([[1]]), in owner's availability. The yacht will leave the Costa Smeralda until the completion of his investigation and all the findings.
