Digital world heritage is a novel notion of world heritage that includes digital content in its scope. UNESCO defines a world heritage made up of globally outstanding sites of cultural and natural value that should be preserved for future generations.Digital heritage refers to the use of digital media in the service of preserving cultural heritage. As of 2016 a world heritage site typically refers to a location that is listed by the UNESCO as being of special cultural or physical significance and to be preserved. There has been a renewed and increased interest in digital world heritage.
