Stem cell research

Stem cell research focuses on stem cells and their function. Specifically, concentrating on the potential stem cells hold. Such as, giving rise to other organ tissues and cells, providing cell models to test the safety and efficacy of drugs, how they can be used to treat human disease, and how they differ from specialized cell types (Mayo Clinic 2013). Focusing on various types of stem cells including adult, embryonic, induced pluripotent, perinatal, and cancer stem cells in addition to others, the scientific community continues to make new discoveries.
