When appropriate, an even more specific template should be used from among those noted below.

Most countries now have country-specific stub templates and categories, in the form {{CountryName-geo-stub}} and Category:Country Name geography stubs (for example, {{}} and Category:Sri Lanka geography stubs). NB: {{}} is used for all of the Antarctic covered by the Antarctic Treaty except the subantarctic islands, which use {{}}
