1TV or Yak TV (Yak meaning One in Dari Persian) is an Afghan privately owned commercial television channel, launched in February 2010. It is owned by Fahim Hashimy, and is the largest operating unit of groupOne Media, which is based in Kabul.
1TV is known for its strong, independent news and current affairs programming, with internationally acclaimed content such as “The Mask”, “Kabul Debate Live” and nightly hard-hitting current affairs series. 1TV broadcasts News every hour throughout the day and nightly newscasts ("World at 5:00" in Pashto) and ("World at 6:00" in Dari.)
1TV is also known for its "Aggressive regional outreach and catchy programming," according to a July, 2010 market research study by Altai Consulting.
1TV reaches a large percentage of highly educated and affluent viewers, targeting 20- to 30- and 30- to 40-year-olds, and a greater share of the middle class viewers.
In addition to its commitment to non-partisan news and information, 1TV produces popular original programming such as "Shabkhand" ("Night Laugh") on Thursdays and Fridays with Asef Jalali, one of Afghanistan’s leading personalities; "The Daily Show," a live weekday afternoon talk show devoted to empowering women; "The Cooking Show," also a daily live program showcasing the finest in Afghan cuisine.
1TV is about to debut prime time licensed formats, in collaboration with leading international production studios in Hollywood and London.

1TV was established by Mr. Salim Poya to provide Afghanistan with a sport channel to Afghan by provide content that transcends racial and ethnic barriers in order to promote hope and peace. According to the independent market research study conducted by Altai Consulting in July 2012, 3TV is considered the 'Fastest Growing Television Channel in Afghanistan', as it quickly gained audience acceptance in the country.
