Non-Verbal Reasoning

In non-verbal reasoning (NVR) diagrams are used for expressing the ideas instead of using numbers and words. Non-verbal reasoning shows a series of figures arranged in a sequence or pattern and then the missing figure is required to identified or the next in the sequence. Because the non-verbal reasoning questions are believed to be the best indicator of general intelligence and don't rely on a knowledge of either English or maths .

It involves identifying relationship, similarities and differences between shapes and patterns, recognizing visual sequences and relationship between objects and remembering this. It enables the ability to analyze and solve complex problems without relying upon or being limited by language skills As these tests don't require reading they can give insight into the abilities of those who have problems with reading and thinking verbally.
