List of ships of the Indian Navy

This is a list of ships of the Indian Navy. It covers both the pre-independence Royal Indian Navy and the post-independence Indian Navy. This article is incomplete, editors are welcome to contribute to expanding this list.

Note: Prior to 1950, Indian naval ships carried the prefix HMIS ("His Majesty's Indian Ship") as the Indian Armed Forces were under the British Crown. After the declaration of the Republic of India on 26 January 1950, the prefix became INS ("Indian Naval Ship").
