The Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) is the leading membership organisation representing professionals and volunteers involved in sports turf management.
Created over 80 years ago, the institute supports volunteer and professional men and women to create quality sports turf surfaces and helps to raise their profile. The IOG provides a range of member benefits and services to enable members to enhance their skills, expand their experience and achieve their professional goals.
The IOG works in partnership with National Governing Bodies, Charities and Government to promote and support the creation of quality surfaces and delivers market-leading training, consultancy and advice.
The IOG organises the Sports, Amenities and Landscaping Trade Exhibition (SALTEX) - Europe’s biggest, annual event for the grounds management sector, which is currently located at the National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham in the first week of November. It has also created and oversees the annual IOG Industry Awards which promotes professionalism and achievement at all levels.
The IOG has established a Young IOG Board to raise the profile of groundsmanship in younger generations and aims to encourage more women into the industry.
The IOG produces the monthly Groundsman magazine, providing a voice for the industry. It also advocates for the rights of groundsmen with an annual salary survey, safe use advice, job description and career development.
The IOG ensures that all of its member products and services represent exceptional value for money. A not-for-profit organisation, the IOG constantly reinvests it’s time, money and talent back into groundsmanship to support a sustainable and vibrant future for all in groundsmanship.
The IOG represents member interests, careers, and the turf management industry – and has helped many to reach the very top of their profession. Membership categories have been made to suit all sectors of the industry: Individual, Grassroots, Organisation, Independent School, Corporate and Corporate PLUS.
