This is a list of chocolate bar brands, in alphabetical order. A chocolate bar is a confection in bar form comprising some or all of the following components: cocoa solids, cocoa butter, sugar, and/or milk. The relative presence or absence of these components form the subclasses of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. In addition to these main ingredients, it may contain emulsifiers such as soy lecithin and flavours such as vanilla.

In most of the English-speaking world, chocolate bar also refers to what is sometimes called a candy bar in American English. This is a form of confectionery usually packaged in a bar or log form, often coated with chocolate, and sized as a snack for one person. Within that term, a variety of products exists, ranging from solid chocolate bars to multiple layerings or mixtures of ingredients such as nuts, fruit, caramel, or fondant containing no chocolate.

3 Musketeers (chocolate bar)

3 Musketeers is a candy bar made in the United States and Canada by Mars, Incorporated. It is a chocolate-covered fluffy whipped chocolate bar. The 3 Musketeers Bar was the third brand produced and manufactured by M&M/Mars, introduced in 1932. Originally, it had three pieces in one package, flavored chocolate, strawberry and vanilla; hence the name, which was derived from the novel The Three Musketeers. Rising costs and wartime restrictions on sugar saw the phasing out of the vanilla and strawberry pieces to leave only the more popular chocolate. Costing five cents when it was introduced, it was marketed as one of the largest chocolate bars available, one that could be shared by friends.

To mark the 75th anniversary of the introduction of the candy bar, Mars introduced 3 Musketeers Mint, the first brand extension, in August 2007. Also in 2007, Mars produced a limited-edition "Autumn Minis Mix" 3 Musketeers. It featured French Vanilla, Mocha Cappuccino and Strawberry. This was followed by Cherry 3 Musketeers for 2008, and Raspberry 3 Musketeers and Orange 3 Musketeers for Easter 2008. Orange was coated in milk chocolate, while the cherry and raspberry were coated with dark chocolate.

The candy is made of a whipped nougat filling covered with milk chocolate. The nougat chocolate center is first formed into very large slabs, which are cut to size, and after the centers are formed they are coated with milk chocolate through a process called "enrobing" wherein the centers pass through a continuous flowing vertical "sheet" of chocolate while, at the same time, a rotating, chocolate-covered wheel beneath the mesh belt coats the base of the bar. The bar is then cooled and prepared for wrapping. The candy is made in Chicago, Illinois; Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; and Newmarket, Ontario.

5th Avenue

The 5th Avenue is a candy bar invented by William H. Luden in 1936 which is a combination of peanut butter crunch layers coated with chocolate. It is produced and marketed by The Hershey Company.

The candy bar was introduced in 1936 by William H. Luden, the cough drop maker and founder of Luden's, at the time a subsidiary of Food Industries of Philadelphia. Hershey Foods Corporation acquired Luden's brands from the Dietrich Corporation, a successor to Food Industries of Philadelphia, in 1986. Despite not being advertised since 1993, the candy bar is still available in many smaller retailers. The originals had almonds, the new ones do not. The origin of the name seems to be lost to history. Our speculation is that Mr. Luden was attempting to associate his elegant candy bar with that of fashionable 5th Avenue in New York City.

This candy appeared in the 1994 sci-fi movie Stargate and the Seinfeld episodes "The Switch" and "The Dealership".

100 Grand Bar

100 Grand Bar (formerly known as $100,000 Bar spoken as "hundred thousand dollar bar" until the mid 1980s) is a candy bar produced by Nestlé in the United States. The candy bar was created in 1966, and named after a series of successful game shows. It weighs 1.5 ounces (43 g) and includes chocolate, caramel and crisped rice. The bar contains 201 calories; it is low in cholesterol and sodium, but high in saturated fat and sugar. Its slogan is "That's Rich!"

In the early 1990s, Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, DJs on Boston radio station WAAF-FM, promoted a giveaway of "100 Grand" over several weeks before finally revealing to the eventual winner that the prize was a 100 Grand bar rather than $100,000. In May 2005, a Kentucky woman sued another radio station, WLTO-FM in Lexington, Kentucky, for a similar prank in which radio DJ DJ Slick gave away one of the bars, leading (so the woman claims) listeners to believe the DJ was giving away $100,000.

Comedians have used the bar's name in similar fashion. In the episode "Business School" of The Office, Michael Scott tries to use the bar as a motivational tool. He says: "And if you sell enough of them, you will make a 'one hundred grand'!", and displays a 100 Grand bar. When he throws the bar into the bewildered audience, they separate, and let the bar hit one of the students in the head. On the Colbert Report, an image of a 100 Grand bar was part of the introduction to a recurring segment called Colbert Platinum, presented as tongue-in-cheek news and advice for the extremely rich. On the March 24, 2011 episode, Colbert interviewed the Senior Fellow for Global Health on the Council on Foreign Relations, Laurie Garrett, about escalating food prices and joked, "candy bars have gone up, I saw one that cost 100 Grand!"

After Eight

After Eight Mint Chocolate Thins, often referred to as simply After Eights, are a confectionery product that are intended to be used as after-dinner mints. They were created by Graham Edwards Rowntree and Company Limited in the UK in 1962 and have been manufactured by Nestlé since its acquisition of Rowntree in 1988.

The mints were originally manufactured at Rowntree's York factory, before production transferred to Castleford, West Yorkshire in 1970. They are now manufactured in Halifax, following Nestlé's closure of the Castleford factory in 2012. After Eights are sold across Europe and North America, and one billion After Eights are made annually.

After Eights were originally made from dairy-free dark chocolate. However, in 2007, Nestlé started adding butterfat to After Eights, making them a dairy product. Nestlé has also made special editions of After Eights, including orange After Eights and milk chocolate After Eights.

The fondant in the centre of After Eights is made from a stiff paste of saccharose, water, and a small amount of the enzyme invertase. This fondant can readily be coated with dark chocolate. After manufacture, the enzyme gradually splits the saccharose into the much more soluble glucose and fructose, resulting in a more liquid consistency. Maturing of the mint is said to take over three days.

Ahlgrens

Ahlgrens is a former Swedish confectionery company. It was founded by Fredrik Ahlgren in the town of Gävle in 1885 as a store for paint and wallpaper, a business which was later extended to the production and sale of various types of chemicals, perfumes and other products. A mouthwash, introduced in 1908, was given the brandname Läkerol, a year later given to a pastille, which is still sold internationally in several variants.

The company was in 1993 later bought by the Finnish company Huhtamäki which quickly terminated the brand Ahlgrens and rebranded all its products to Leaf except for Ahlgrens bilar.

The product still most closely associated with the brand is 'Ahlgrens bilar' ("Ahlgren's Cars"), sold since 1953 and marketed as "the world's most sold car" (which is possibly technically correct, by number of cars). The small marshmallow cars are so popular within Sweden that stores that specifically cater Swedish tourists and residents in other countries have started selling them as well.

The brand has been extended to other car- and road-related products, liquorice car tyres, travel trailers and sour road signs, the latter including the elk warning signs beloved by German tourists.

Airheads is a 1994 American comedy film written by Rich Wilkes and directed by Michael Lehmann. It stars Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler as a band of loser musicians who stage a of a radio station in order to get airplay for their demo recording. Joe Mantegna, Michael McKean, Ernie Hudson and Michael Richards play supporting roles.

Chazz, Rex and Pip are in a Los Angeles metal band called The Lone Rangers who are continuously turned down as they try to get their demo tape heard by producers. After scolding him for being lazy, Chazz's girlfriend Kayla kicks him out of her apartment. They decide to try to get the local rock station KPPX to play their reel-to-reel tape on the air and attempt to break-in through the back door. After several unsuccessful attempts, a station employee comes out to smoke and they keep the door from shutting behind her.

Once inside, laid back DJ Ian "The Shark" begins talking with them on the air. Station Manager Milo overhears them and intervenes but Ian continues broadcasting. After Milo insults Rex, he and Chazz pull out realistic looking water pistols and demand airplay. After setting up an old reel-to-reel for the demo, the tape begins to play but is quickly destroyed when the player malfunctions. The guys try to run but Doug Beech, the station's accountant, had already called the police and they see the building is surrounded.

They negotiate with the police who are now tasked to find Kayla who has a cassette of the demo. Since the station never went off the air, news of the hostage crisis travels quickly and numerous hard rock/metal fans begin showing up outside the radio station interfering with police. A SWAT team has also arrived whose leader prefers using force over negotiation tactics. His team secretly passes a gun through a roof vent to Beech who has been hiding in the air ducts. During the crisis, it is revealed that Milo had secretly signed a deal to change KPPX's format to Adult Contemporary, which includes having to fire Ian and most of the other employees. When this comes out, Ian and a few employees side with the band and turn against Milo.

Almond Roca

Almond Roca is a brand of chocolate-covered, almond butter crunch, hard toffee with a coating of ground almonds. It is similar to chocolate-covered English toffee. The candy is manufactured by the Brown & Haley Co. of Tacoma, Washington, founded in 1914 by Harry Brown and J.C. Haley.

Almond Roca was invented in 1923. The candy's name is said to have been inspired by Tacoma's head librarian, who chose the Spanish word "roca", meaning "rock" in English, to describe the hard, log-shaped confection. Brown & Haley first used Almond Roca's trademark pink tin can containers in 1927 to extend the product's shelf life. Individual pieces of Almond Roca candy are wrapped in gold-colored aluminum foil.

In 2009 the Washington state legislature attempted to designate Aplets & Cotlets the "official candy of the state of Washington". The proposal ultimately failed; some legislators from Western Washington thought the designation should go to Almond Roca.

Almond Roca contains sugar, almonds, butter, palm oil, palm kernel oil, cocoa powder, whey, skim milk powder, soya lecithin, chocolate, and vanilla.

By company tradition, a small amount of the original 1923 batch of toffee is carried over into each subsequent batch of candy.

Empirical studies have shown that the chocolate and almond coating of the candy includes the equivalent of two average sized almonds.

Since 2003, Brown & Haley has expanded its line of chocolate-coated toffee, with dark chocolate, cashew, macadamia nut, mocha (coffee-flavored), peppermint and sugar-free varieties.
