Cerelac

Cerelac is a brand of instant cereal made by Nestlé. The cereal is promoted for infants 6 months and older as a supplement to breast milk when it is no longer the sole item in an infant's diet. Cerelac is not a substitute for breast milk and it is advised to continue breast feeding or infant formula along with Cerelac. Cerelac can help babies develop tastes for other food as they are weaned from breast milk. It also contains vitamins and minerals like iron, along with essential fatty acids. Cerelac products also contain probiotics that are found in the digestive tracts of breastfed babies. The brand was first registered in 1949 and it is currently sold in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Portugal, South America, Central America, North America, India, the Middle East, Nigeria, North Africa, Malawi, Pakistan, Philippines, Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa, South East Asia, and Zimbabwe.

Developed by Henri Nestlé to reduce infant mortality in the 1860’s, he invented Infant Cereals using existing nutritional science and technology. The first product was called Farine Lactée and is believed to have saved the life of premature baby boy. By 1874, these infant cereals were sold in 18 countries and by 1948 they were marketed across the world. The brand was first registered in 1949. Cerelac baby food is recommended by the American Pediatric Society. It contains most of the growth nutrition that is necessary for the baby at all development phases from 6 months onwards. It also has iron and essential minerals as Calcium, Vitamin D, protein, Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Omega 3 and Omega 6, along with 18 important nutrients.

Chocapic

Chocapic is a chocolate-flavoured whole-grain breakfast cereal distributed by Nestlé in most of Europe, the Middle-East and Latin America. The cereal was introduced in 1984. Chocapic has been available to consumers in Portugal since 1986.

The cereal consists of cocoa flavored wheat flakes. Chocapic is available in 30 grams, and 375 grams packages. The cereal's mascot is Pico, a dog that loves chocolate, and is always referring to the fact that Chocapic has a strong chocolate flavour. In later advertisements he is seen with a child preventing several thieves from stealing the cereal and explaining the origin of Chocapic (the most usual explanation being that a balloon filled with chocolate burst and landed in a field, creating the choco petals). A new product related to this cereal, Chocapic Duo, has been recently created, which features the usual chocolate petals, and also features white chocolate flavored petals as well, creating a new product.

Similar in flavor and texture to Chocapic is KoKo Krunch, produced and marketed by Nestlé throughout Asia and Chocos by Kellogg's.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch

imageCinnamon Toast Crunch

Cinnamon Toast Crunch (Known as Croque-Cannelle in French Canada, Curiously Cinnamon in the UK (previously Cinnamon Grahams), and as a different-tasting but similar-looking variant called Cini Minis in other European countries where available), is a brand cereal produced by General Mills and Nestlé. The cereal was first produced in 1984. Cinnamon Toast Crunch aims to provide the taste of cinnamon toast in a crunch cereal format. The cereal consists of small squares or rectangles of wheat and rice covered with cinnamon and sugar. Because of its rice content, when immersed in milk, one can hear "snap" sounds coming from it, similar to Rice Krispies. In most European countries the product is sold in boxes but in Poland and Russia the cereal is sold in bags. The product was originally marketed outside Europe with the mascot of a jolly baker named Chef Wendell, but was eventually retired and replaced with sentient Cinnamon Toast Crunch squares as mascots, who would often eat each other in commercials.

Originally the cereal featured plain squares but currently features artificial "cinnamon swirl" coloration in each piece. The cereal was originally invented and marketed by General Mills Assistant Product Manager, Elisabeth Trach. Starting in 1986 there were three animated bakers as the mascots, none of which were originally named; the two besides Wendell are sometimes incorrectly credited as Bob and Quello. The other two bakers were considerably more youthful in appearance than Wendell. Quello, who was Wendell's second-in-command, was tall and thin with brown hair, and Bob, the youngest of the group, had black hair and a stocky build. According to an inquiry response from General Mills Customer Service:

"These little guys were cute bakers complete with chef hats and aprons. Wendell was the only baker that was named, and due to consumer feedback, we chose to feature him as the 'Cinnamon Toast Baker' where he has remained in this title role since 1991."

The cereal's original slogan was "I'm feeling like Cinnamon Toast Crunch tonight, honey." During this time, the three bakers were the mascots, it did not have a slogan, but it featured the three bakers singing the cereal's name with each baker singing one word in its title. Starting in 1995, it was given the slogan: "The taste you can see." In January 2007, Cinnamon Toast Crunch experimented with a new slogan, "It's That Intense," but switched back after poor reception. In 2009 the slogan became "Crave those crazy squares".

Golden Nuggets

Golden Nuggets are a children's breakfast cereal sold in the UK and Ireland by Cereal Partners (under the Nestlé brand). It is made mainly from cereal grains, sugar and honey, formed into large yellow crunchy balls. It has a sweet, slightly honey-like flavour.

Golden Nuggets were introduced in the 1970s in the United Kingdom and the United States, manufactured by Nabisco. They were then withdrawn from the UK market in the late 1970s.

However, they were brought back to the UK in 1999 with a £1 million advertising campaign, perhaps in response to demand from people who had enjoyed them in the 1970s and now had their own children. [source needed]

The packaging features various cartoon characters (drawn by Gary Dunn): Klondike Pete (a gold prospector who mines Golden Nuggets), his mule Pardner, his enemies; two claim-jumpers named Plum Loco Louie and Boot Hill Bob (jointly "The Breakfast Bandits"), and a Golden Nuggets Bee.[1]. The box also sometimes features puzzles suited to the 7–12-year-old range.

The cereal is marketed with the slogan "They Taste Yeee Haaa!!" (Previously "They're honey-crunchin' good!").

In 2002, as part of Nestlé's Lilo & Stitch promotion, chocolate-flavoured nuggets were mixed in with the Golden Nuggets (according to Klondike Pete in the ads during this time, this was Stitch's work, saying that "That rascal Stitch has gotten some of these Golden Nuggets chocolatey!")

Cheaper imitations of Golden Nuggets are made by other manufacturers, under names such as 'Golden Balls' and 'Multigrain Boulders'.

Nesquik

imageNesquik

Nesquik is a brand of products made by Nestlé. In 1948, Nestlé launched a mix for chocolate-flavored milk called Nestle Quik. This was released in Europe during the 1950s as Nesquik.

Since 1999, the brand has been known as Nesquik worldwide. Today, the Nesquik name appears on a wide range of products, including breakfast cereals, powdered mixes for flavored milk, syrups, ready to drink products, candy bars, chocolate fondue fountains, hot cocoa mix, and more.

Nesquik began as a chocolate powdered flavoring mix in the United States in 1948, as Nestlé Quik. In the 1950s, it was launched in Europe as Nesquik. In countries with the Quik term (including the USA, Canada, Mexico, and Australia, where it was originally marketed under the name Nestlé's Quik), the name was changed to the worldwide brand Nesquik in 1999. The same year, Cereal Partners introduced Nesquik Cereal, a breakfast cereal that "turns milk into chocolate milk," which is similar to Coco Pops. Nesquik syrup products were introduced in 1981. Ready-to-do products were introduced in 1984.

On November 8, 2012, Nestlé USA issued a voluntary recall of limited quantities of Nesquik Chocolate Powder made and sold in the United States. These that were recalled were of the 10.9, 21.8, and 40.7 ounce tins. This recall only affected the chocolate variety; it did not affect the other varieties of the mix or any other products by Nesquik. This was the first known recall of a Nesquik product.

These tins were taken off the market after Nestlé was informed via a supplier, Omya Inc. that it had issued a recall of certain lots of one of its own products, calcium carbonate for Salmonella contamination.

The affected Nesquik chocolate mix was produced during early October 2012. All affected products have an expiration date of Best Before Oct 2014.

Nestlé issued a statement on the recall stating: We apologize to our consumer and sincerely regret this incident.

On April 1, 2013, the official Facebook page of Nesquik USA posted a photo on their page depicting a broccoli-flavored ready-to-drink flavour of Nesquik. Many believed it to be true and were shocked. However, if one looked closer at the photo, there was a notice in the lower-left corner that it was not an actual Nestlé product. Nesquik USA announced later in the same day that it was an April Fool's joke.

Shreddies

Shreddies are a breakfast cereal made from lattices of wholegrain wheat.

In Canada, production began in 1939 at Lewis Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ontario. Shreddies were produced under the Nabisco name until the brand in Canada was purchased in 1993 by Post Cereals, whose parent company in 1995 became Kraft General Foods, which sold Post to Ralcorp in 2008 and is now Post Foods Canada Corp., a unit of Post Holdings, which was spun off from Ralcorp in 2012.

In the United Kingdom, the cereal was first produced by Nabisco's former UK division, but is now made by Cereal Partners under the Nestlé brand at Welwyn Garden City. The factory opened in 1926 and began making Shreddies in 1953. The site was briefly owned by Rank Hovis McDougall in 1988, which sold it to Cereal Partners in 1990. Nestlé's site at Staverton started making Shreddies in 1998, and is where all production was moved in 2007.

The cereal is marketed with the whole grain symbol, as part of a marketing campaign emphasising the healthiness of the cereal. Wheat for Shreddies is sourced from over 500 different farms within the UK.

Sugared, chocolate and honey-flavoured versions of the cereal are available in the UK as Frosted Shreddies, Coco Shreddies, and Honey Shreddies, and an orange-flavoured version of the Coco Shreddies has also become available recently. The former advertising slogan in the UK was: "Keeps hunger locked up until lunch". The advertising slogan for the Frosted and Coco Shreddies was: "Too tasty for geeks".

In January 2012, boxes of Shreddies dating from the early 1970s were reported to be selling on eBay, after being discovered in a village shop. They were reported to have been selling for about £160 per box on eBay.

Shreddies featured as a plot device in the Canadian mockumentary television series created and directed by Mike Clattenburg, the Trailer Park Boys. Shreddies were part of the survival supplies Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles sent with Jacob Collins and his Boys on their outing to lay a model train track across the Canada- US border in the episode "We Can't Call People Without Wings Angels, So We Call Them Friends". Other supplies sent with them included liquorice and cannabis. The train track Jacob and his minions constructed was intended for use in smuggling cannabis across the Canada - US border.
